The Latest in COVID-19 News: Week Ending Oct. 10

This week, the CDC acknowledged that SARS-CoV-2 is sometimes spread via airborne transmission. Elsewhere, the FDA advised clinicians to give patients both visual and verbal instructions on self-swabbing for testing, and the American Academy of Pediatrics updated its guidelines on testing children and on using personal protective equipment during the pandemic. In addition, a study found that a point-of-care molecular test provided earlier results than PCR done at a central laboratory — and with similar accuracy.
